Sound Mind Austin PLLC aims to support the mental health and well-being of musicians and music industry professionals in this incredibly talented city that is Austin, Texas. Sound Mind Austin employs a psycho-therapeutic approach to help guide music industry professionals toward healthy relationships, sound minds, and peak on-stage performances. 

 

Position Overview

Sound Mind Austin seeks fully-licensed mental health professionals to provide outpatient Telehealth counseling to individual, couple, family, and group therapy clients. Ideal Candidate has a strong background in systems theory, trauma informed care, human and lifespan development, and attachment-focused interpersonal neurobiology. Candidates with an appreciation of music, experience in music disciplines, or those who use music as a path towards healing strongly considered. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform Telehealth clinical counseling services to clients of Sound Mind Austin. To include, but not limited to: children, teens, adults, couples, families, and group therapy opportunities.

  • Available to hold at least 20-25 client sessions per week. Both Sound Mind Austin and Candidate will be responsible for the recruitment of clients. Candidate is responsible for setting his or her own schedule and coordinating schedules with clients.

  • Encouraged to participate in assessing and addressing the mental health needs of the music industry through engagement with businesses and nonprofits that serve the local music community.

  • Timely communication and engagement with a client’s treatment team (i.e., psychiatrist, schools, doctors, etc.).

  • Timely and complete written records in Sound Mind Austin’s EHR Simple Practice software for each client including, but not limited to: intake notes, progress notes, treatment plans, termination notes, contract notes, and other forms or documents which may be needed or required from time to time by Sound Mind Austin. Keep client files accurate, up to date, and in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Charge clients and collect payments for services.

  • Attend mandatory staff meetings, training, and professional development as directed by Sound Mind Austin.

  • Conduct and regulate counseling services in a professional manner to maintain and increase the goodwill and reputation of Sound Mind Austin. Be respectful, cooperative and collaborative with coworkers and networking agencies.

  • In addition to the employee’s direct client contact hours, other duties may be assigned, such as, but not limited to: marketing and outreach efforts, creating presentations, creating psycho-educational documents and materials, social media engagement, and contributing to the Sound Opinions Blog. 

 

Qualifications/Skills

  • Master’s or Doctoral Degree in mental health counseling, social work, and/or applicable degree. Fully licensed (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT or LCPC) in the State of Texas abiding by all state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and codes of ethics. 

  • At least three years experience post-unrestricted licensure.

  • Prior experience in a non-profit agency preferred.

  • Applicants with an interest and background in serving the mental health needs of the music industry preferred.

  • Punctual for client sessions, supervision, and team meetings.

  • Be able to work independently on assigned tasks.

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills; specific to Telehealth.

  • Therapists with at least one niche market for counseling services strongly preferred. (i.e., substance abuse treatment, EMDR, hypnosis, etc.).

  • Therapist is comfortable working online through a Telehealth platform.
