David Braham MS, LMFT-S

My professional licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy has allowed me to work with youth and families for over a decade. My primary clinical focus integrates issues related to peak performance counseling, trauma and healing, gender violence, positive masculinity and fatherhood.
I moved to Austin in 2008 when I joined the counseling services team at SafePlace where I assisted families and youth who have survived sexual and domestic violence, and were ready to move beyond the trauma. I have worked in middle schools, high schools and on college campuses, at residential treatment centers and hospitals, sexual assault advocacy centers and domestic violence shelters – all in an effort to decrease violence while strengthening relationships, and especially, increasing positive masculinity among men.
I earned my Master of Science degree from Colorado State University in Human Development and Family Studies with a clinical emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful therapeutic process which has proven effective for the treatment of trauma.
