David Braham MS, LMFT-S
My professional licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy has allowed me to work with youth and families for almost two decades. My primary clinical focus integrates issues related to peak performance counseling, trauma and healing, gender violence, positive masculinity and fatherhood.
I earned my Master of Science degree from Colorado State University in Human Development and Family Studies with a clinical emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful therapeutic process which has proven effective for the treatment of trauma. Additionally, I am certified in clinical hypnosis, proven to strengthen your goals and comfort.
My clinical training has provided me with a solid foundation in counseling. I primarily conduct therapy from a model that is strength-based, systematic, and brief. My therapeutic process integrates a variety of perspectives – including, but not limited to – developmental, cultural, spiritual, and contextual life experiences. I am a trauma-informed therapist and often utilize techniques to deepen somatic awareness and strengthen mindfulness.
Authenticity, compassion, and respect are fundamental to my interaction with clients. I am dedicated to empowering families, couples, and individuals to strengthen their relationships, resolve troubling issues, achieve personal well-being, and peak their performance goals.
In 2013, I founded Sound Mind Austin P.L.L.C. to support my greatest love, music. In a city known for its vibrant sounds, it is our mission to contribute to the health and well-being of all who contribute to the music industry.
As the great Kurt Cobain once said, “I didn’t know how to deal with success. If there was a rockstar 101, I would have liked to take it. It might have helped me.”
